Heat Treatment
with Hiquench Series of
Quenching Oils are heat treatment oils blended from solvent refined base oil with specially selected additives that facilitate fast quenching through proper and controlled cooling, and have outstanding chemical and oxidation stability. Quenching Oils also have excellent thermal properties, low volatility, high flash, and fire points.
Quenching Oils serve two primary functions. There are different types of Quenching oils in India that facilitate the hardening of steel by controlling furnaces during quenching, and they enhance the wetting of steel during quenching to minimize the formation of undesirable thermal and transformational gradients which may lead to increased distortion and cracking.
Hardcastle Petrofer is a leading manufacturer of quenching oils in India. For more than 60 years, Hardcastle Petrofer has offered a complete range dedicated to the field of heat treatment or quenching oils. These Quenching oils and polymer quenchants have been developed to ensure better control of cooling cycles:
Modern heat-treatment processes are constantly making new demands on Quenching oils. Hardcastle Petrofer’s extensive development program ensures that our product range is more than capable of meeting new industry advances. We are constantly screening new materials for their suitability for our formulations and our existing product range is continually reviewed to ensure that the best available technology is used.
Rich experience in understanding the application needs of Indian heat treaters has resulted in HIQUENCH series of quenchants to be the automatic choice of our Indian customers.

Hardcastle Petrofer’s product range for heat treatment offers customers with a complete portfolio for the whole range of heat-treatment processes.
for tool steels and general applications such as semi-finished products and forged pieces, principally of alloy steels.
most preferred oil of heat treaters particularly for alloy, tool and die-steel grades because of its low viscosity and long tank life.
for alloy steels, fasteners, carburised parts with good evaporation stability, suitable for use in open and sealed quench furnaces.
for lean alloy steels, heavy section parts, plain carbon steel, bearing steels and carburising grades of steels, having high evaporation stability and rapid breakdown of vapour blanket for high cooling capacity.
for special steel grades and end use applications with high evaporation stability.
containing advanced additive packages with water wash-off characteristics.
customised to suit specific performance parameters.
for high-performance hot quenching with excellent ageing stability for a wide range of applications requiring good hardening efficiency, distortion control and long service life for small as well as large size components. These oils are suitable for use in sealed quench furnaces as well as open tank quenching applications.
for oil tempering of parts with good ageing stability suitable for a range of application temperatures.
to suit customized performance needs of sophisticated applications.
POLYMER QUENCHANTS developed with specially selected polymers so as to ensure long and trouble-free service life. Preferred for use in induction/flame hardening and tank quenching applications for various grades of steel, castings as well as for solution treatment of distortion prone aluminium sheet for aerospace and components of automotive applications.
Used for a wide range of applications ranging from quenching of forgings of low-alloy and plain carbon steels for automobiles such as crankshafts, connecting rods, camshafts etc., steel castings, bars and sections of low-alloy carbon steels, hardening of hand tools, spanners, wrenches, tongs, high-pressure cylinders, seamless tubes and carburised or carbo-nitrided small parts.
Used for a variety of applications ranging from quenching of open die-forged components like turbine shafts, seamless rolled rings, valve bodies, bars, die steels, tool steels and coils of martensitic stainless steel.
Free of hazardous chemicals having a long established high performance quality for achieving best carburising results.
for high stability and consistent results.
for start-up under neutral condition, thus providing scope for addition of Cyanide to suit the concentration requirement.
for pre-heating, austenising, quenching of high speed steels and marquenching.
for tempering and drawing of variety of steels including spring steels.
for accelerated quenching of plain carbon steels to achieve maximum hardness.
for surface finishing of components after heat treatment.
for surface finishing to enhance aesthetics in tools, band saws, hack saws.
for preventing surface oxidation in salt baths at high operating temperatures.
to prevent surface decarburisation and to keep the bath chemically clean.
Developed with extremely high resistance to vaporisation, low gas absorption capacity, rapid de-gassing capability and extremely high degree of purity in order to achieve spotlessly clean surfaces.
